REPAIR EXISTING OPEN DECK STEEL THROUGH PLATE GIRDER, REPLACE BEARINGS, LOCALIZED CLEANING AND PAINTING AND MINOR SUBSTRUCTURE REPAIRS. CLARENDON VTRY (44) - VTR BRIDGE 98 - OVER UNNAMED STREAM, MILE POST 51.26. REPAIR EXISTING OPEN DECK STEEL THROUGH PLATE GIRDER, REPLACE BEARINGS, LOCALIZED CLEANING AND PAINTING AND MINOR SUBSTRUCTURE REPAIRS. WALLINGFORD VTRY (38) - VTRY BRIDGE NO. 87 OVER HOMER STONE BROOK.
The work includes:Removal of existing bridge superstructure.Rehabilitation of the substructure: Repairs to abutment, wingwalls, and bearing seat.Construct new bridge superstructure: concrete deck on steel beams with 3 tube railings on concrete curbs. Also included shall be approach slabs at both ends of the structure.
The subbase placement within the approach area of each abutment is critical to the long term performance of the pavement.

TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION: Work to be performed under this project includes: Rehabilitation of the West abutment and wingwalls, repair of the West and East abutment bear seat caps, installation of stone fill channel protection, minor timber superstructure repairs, approach railing, approach signing and other incidental items.
