The maritime workforce is one of the highest gap occupations-based on state specific projected offshore wind employment needs. The Authority is considering developing grant or other types of programs to bridge the workforce gap, expand maritime training in New Jersey and support offshore wind workforce development initiatives to address the talent needs of offshore wind maritime operations.
Awards made will advance the development of a domestic supply chain for critical offshore wind components and services, helping to lower costs for US offshore wind projects, and ensuring reliable development timelines.
The Authority, in support of the development of the Wind Institute, seeks to secure New Jersey’s position as a leader in offshore wind technology research and innovation through the development of a world-class, flagship research and development (R&D) testing facility that capitalizes on New Jersey’s offshore wind investments and spurs a robust ecosystem of offshore wind-related innovation activities.
The Maine International Trade Center (MITC) will support business planning and development marketing efforts for offshore wind on behalf of the GEO. These efforts are part of the GEOs larger Offshore Wind Road process, of which MITC has participated in. MITC is a public-private partnership, supported by the Maine Department of Economic & Community Development, and has specific expertise offering business assistance.
