Adult and Community Learning Services (ACLS), a unit of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, is looking to hire a contractor to develop trainings for the implementation of the Teaching Skills That Matter (TSTM) federal initiative in adult education programs in Massachusetts, as well as to support the four TSTM lead teachers and the state TSTM lead in their TSTM-related work with TSTM participating adult education teachers.

MRC seeks tutoring services to: Improve literacy for individuals with learning disabilities and other disabilities; augmenting the development of academic skills; assistance in developing vocational skills; prepare individuals for Hi-SET (GED) testing; The Massachusetts Rehabilitation views tutors as teachers who have teaching experience and skills and/or particular expertise for which they have sufficient teaching skills to pass on their expertise

These courses cover a variety of topics with the goal of enhancing parental understanding of child development and behavior, and teaching skills and techniques that aid in effective parenting. CSD has used a correspondence parenting course in the past to provide these services, primarily to incarcerated clients (approximately 130 clients annually).

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent teaching skills including teaching using interactive and varied pedagogical strategies and teaching experience in higher education, preferably at a community college.
