    The ETWD is a replacement for the M776 Cannon's Thermal Warning Device.  The device is designed to measure and indicate the cannon's temperature to the M777 Crew.  Used during 'check fire' operation, the ETWD provides the crew with a color indication of the tubes temperature, corresponding to the appropriate standard operating procedures they follow. NSN 11582612 (ETWD Kit) is currently fielded on the M777 Howitzer.
