A System of Systems (SoS) approach is being proposed for an expeditionary Infantry Battalion Mortar that provides the Infantry units with equal to or greater range, lethality, and accuracy than the current 120mm BMS in a man portable package. Additionally, IBMS will provide units with increased mobility (shoot and scoot ability) and survivability compared to the 120mm BMS. IVAS uses data driven analytics to provide tactical leaders with metrics and indicators to optimize unit performance and enhance lethality.

Under the MASTR-E program, the Biomechanics team is conducting research on small unit performance analytics, SUPRA. This research seeks to provide the ability to monitor and predict close combat performance and lethality at the small-unit (squad) level through Situational Training Exercise (STX) Lane and Precision Room Clearing (PCR) instrumentation.
