PROPOSAL REQUESTED Emmet County is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to provide the County with managing hazardous waste collections from residents and CESQGs in our area at scheduled collection events each year. B. PROJECT BACKGROUND This program will provide residents and conditionally exempt small quantity generators a convenient opportunity to dispose of/recycle hazardous wastes in an environmentally responsible manner.
Wastes collected at these facilities will be identified, bulked, lab packed, neutralized, recycled, labeled, packaged for shipment or otherwise managed by the County. Drums and containers will meet or exceed all state and federal regulations. Materials may be Hazardous Wastes, Universal Wastes or Non-Hazardous Wastes.

The awarded Contractor will require special skills, technical knowledge, and experience in the collection, packaging, storage, recycling, transportation, treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste, with particular emphasis in the area of managing household and CESQG hazardous waste collection programs.
The CBJ continuously works with the community to identify waste streams to be collected at the facility and to increase volumes of waste collected and disposed of safely. The intent is to keep hazardous waste out of the landfill and dispose of or recycle the material in a fiscally and environmentally responsible manner.
