Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting bids on behalf of the Mechanical Engineering Department for a customized Water Tunnel System. This water tunnel system will be the core experiment facility for research on underwater propulsion and robotic system developments.
HDPE force main; trenchless construction with 36-inch diameter casing; addition of air/vacuum release valves and vaults; 30-inch diameter DIP gravity main into Cobb County Water System sewer tunnel structure; and all associated erosion, sedimentation, and traffic control measures.

The service water system for the Metro Plant supplies much of the non-potable uses throughout the plant. These uses include seal water for pumps, cleaning for tanks and other facilities and some processes such as biofilters. The Metro Plant has an extensive tunnel system that is used for routing pipes, conduit, utilities, and other equipment. Most of the service water piping system is routed in the tunnel system.
The project will include the fabrication, installation, and all construction associated with the mechanical screening systems for both the upper and lower wet wells at the Waller Creek Tunnel Inlet Facility. Work will also include upgrades to the irrigation skid system to provide more efficient supply of Tunnel Water to Waterloo Park.
