The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to execute a contract to support the Security and Elimination Department (S&E) objectives to eliminate interdicted weapons of mass destruction (WMD), their delivery systems, and associated commodities and develop an associated training program to build partner capacity to do the same. DTRA is issuing this RFI to determine if there are other qualified sources.

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Research and Development (J9) Directorate, Basic and Applied Sciences Department (BA), has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) under the announcement number and title of: "HDTRA1-14-24-FRCWMD-BAA Fundamental Research to Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction." On 20 March 2015, the BAA was posted on the Grants.gov website, www.Grants.gov.

The OT Agreement with the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Consortium is for a coordinated research and development program to develop and mature technologies in the critical field of countering weapons of mass destruction. The consortium is comprised of a mixture of traditional and non-traditional contractors, small businesses, for-profit and not-for profit entities, and academia, representing the key players in the industry.

If a solicitation is subsequently released based on the responses to this RFI the first choice for an acquisition vehicle, if appropriate, will be the Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA).

This event will be of interest to industry partners that are seeking opportunities to fulfill JPEO-CBD and countering weapons of mass destruction partner requirements for rapid prototyping in order to counter threats posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
