The three immediate objectives of this project are; Assess baseline upland vegetation cover at ~1m resolution; Delineate areas of accumulation/wet meadow habitat within the uplands; Map the extents of multiple landcover type within the wet meadow/riparian areas. This baseline data can then be incorporated into the long-term goal of assessing management action over time.
The project area is located within the Headwaters Stewardship Area.The Shasta McCloud Management Unit requires trail construction to complete the following:Lower Deadfall Meadows Trail (NSF Trail 6W05) – improve non-motorized trail access in conjunction with mitigating resource damage that is occurring through the wet meadow system.
NOTES: SHEARING WOODY VEGETATION FROM WET MEADOW AND PRAIRIE HABITATS ON A PORTION OF WOLF TRAIL WMA WITH THE OBJECTIVE TO REDUCE THE WOODY COMPONENT OF THIS HABITAT AND INCREASE THE GRASS AND FORB COMPONENT. THE CONTRACTOR WILL UTILIZE A DOZER AND SHEAR BLADE TO PERFORM THE WORK ON FROZEN GROUND CONDITIONS.

This work consists of constructing an elevated boardwalk with French/rock underdrains installed (~600 ft.) and complete general maintenance on the remaining trail up to the junction with the Pacific Crest Trail (~ 1 mile).
