Background The WAAS is a safety-critical system that augments the Global Positioning System (GPS) Standard Positioning Service (SPS) to provide for enroute navigation and precision landing capability in the United States National Airspace System (NAS). The WAAS SC is a critical component of that program.
The modification will allow for the continued WAAS system efficiency, performance improvements and the integration of Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite Seven (7) into WAAS. The fully approved sole source justification has been uploaded below.
It is in the best interest of the FAA to award a contract to Verocel on a single-source basis because Verocel, the original developer and producer of the prior version of a computer serving the same unique purpose within the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) program and are uniquely capable of meeting the FAA’s requirement.
