100 square feet per acre. The first thinning stands containa volume of 4,820 tons of standing pine pulpwood. This sale also has 320 acresof second thinnings in stands 3 and 13. Operators will select harvest treesreducing the basal area to 80 square feet per acre. The second thinning standscontain a volume of 8,844 tons of standing pine pulpwood. The harvest areaboundary for these stands are marked with purple paint. All timber stands aremarked with well-defined roadways or breaks.Item 2: This sale is located in Compartment 62, Cold Springs 1 training area, ofFort Polk. The sale consists of 443 acres of thinning pine pulpwood and pinesawtimber in stands 7, 15, 30, 31, and 35. Operators will select harvest treesreducing the basal area to 60 square feet per acre. These stands contain avolume of 7,959 tons of standing pine pulpwood, 664 tons of topwood, and 403MBF (Doyle Scale) of standing pine sawtimber.
