Asbestos removal: Provide a phased work plan for the removal of asbestos containingmaterials, including but not limited to boiler and heating pipe insulation, mastics, floortiles, etc. The contractor shall:a. Provide all necessary documents for permits and notification.b. Provide a recommendation for containment of the work area, requiredventilation, and the decontamination process.c. Recommend any and all OSHA requirements for effective worker safety.d. Provide alternatives for the safe removal of mastic that will minimize effectsto other parts of the building (e.g., low VOC

solvents).e. Provide all testing required to verify suspect asbestos containing materials.f. Periodically monitor the work for compliance with the work plan.g. Perform all required clearance testing.h. Visually inspect completed work for thoroughness.i. Verify proper disposal in accordance with all State and local regulations.j. Provide a written report detailing all aspects of the work performed and toinclude all clearance testing data, quantities removed and annotated drawingsfor asbestos containing materials removed. (4 copies)2. Lead removal: Lead containing paint may be on some surfaces. Additional testingmay be required of structural beams where welding, abrading or drilling is anticipated.The contractor shall:a. Provide guidance on handling requirements when dealing with lead containingconstruction debris. Prepare written plan if required by state/federalregulations and if requested by the NSD.b. Monitor removal and perform the necessary TCLP testing of constructionwaste containing lead based paint.3. PCBs: Evaluate transformers, electrical switches, ballasts and any other suspectmaterials for the presence of PCB's (polychlorinated biphenyls). The contractor shall:a. Perform whatever necessary tests are required to certify the presence or absence ofPCB's.b. Recommend proper removal and disposal of any materials which test positive.Prepare written plan if required by state/federal regulations and if requested byNSD.
