Job Description:The Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA), in partnership with the College President and Berkshire Community College Foundation, provides executive leadership and for the overall design, development, and implementation of internal and external fundraising efforts on behalf of Berkshire Community College (BCC) and the Foundation. The VPIA works in tandem with the College President, and the BCC Foundation Board of Directors to strengthen relationships with all constituency's groups, including businesses to cultivate other gift opportunities. They develop and implement comprehensive institutional advancement efforts that support the priorities of the College's Strategic Plan, with a focus on major gifts and planned giving, growing the Foundation's endowment, developing a capital campaign plan, supporting student financial needs through scholarships, emergency funds, special focus projects, and enhancing donor cultivation and stewardship. The VPIA will support the efforts of the College's Foundation, and its committees, in achieving its annual and long-term goals. This position advances College initiatives in the community by promoting the mission, direction, and goals of the College. The VPIA will collaborate with OLLI at Berkshire Community College on fundraising, planned gifts and database management. The VPIA is a member of the College's Executive Council and will serve on the President's Cabinet, and reports to the President. Requirements:Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following: Experience implementing and supporting a strategic plan with focus on customized fund raising efforts to support specific initiatives. Bachelor's required, Master's preferred in a complementary discipline with at least 6 years of fundraising/development leadership experience or similar work experience.Record of significant career achievement in most aspects of development, including capital campaigns, major gifts, corporate/foundation relations, annual giving, events, and planned giving. Interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for fundraising and building relationships.Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage effective and cooperative relationships with existing and prospective donors or possesses similar experience in relationship building.Skill in relating/matching needs of the institution to interests of individuals, foundations, and corporations.Creative skills and experience in producing innovative written and web materials that is timely and impactful to stimulate interest from potential funding sources.Strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills to communicate and work effectively with individual donors, corporations and foundations, campus administrators, faculty, staff, and other constituents.Ability to record, track and mine data in a digital format. Computer literacy and experience with fundraising databases required, experience with Raiser's Edge preferred.Commitment to and understanding of the community college mission.Possess high energy, a positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; possess a high degree of initiative and a sense of humor.Demonstrated ability to think strategically and assume leadership to bring events and projects to a successful conclusion. The Institutional Advancement team, led by the VPIA, includes the Director of Alumni Relations & Events, and an Administrative Assistant. The College is reviewing reporting lines; this newly formed division may change with the arrival of the VPIA.
