ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY GROUP SALES MANAGER Office of Tourism and Economic Initiatives This is a full-time temp position, eligible for benefits Hiring Range: $49,677 to $70,000 DOE FLSA Status: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime) Deadline to Apply: 10/19/2022 Position Summary: The Group Sales Coordinator promotes Prescott tourism through sales initiatives and support to industry contacts. This position will drive group sales including weekday business travel, meeting sales, conferences, retreats, trainings, and general group sales. This position will also assist in driving sports tournament sales along with coordination of events calendar working closely with Recreation Services. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business management, sales marketing, communications, public administration or hospitality and/or experience in relevant fields. An understanding of economic
development, tourism and hospitality preferred. Familiarity with Prescott and Arizona area is also preferred. Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements: Must have a valid AZ driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment. A valid passport is required to attend occasional international events. Must be able to work occasional non-traditional working hours and weekends. Essential Duties: · Proactively produces group business leads and develops new market opportunities for the hospitality industry as well as business attraction leads through telemarketing, outside sales contacts, and as directed through leadership. · Generates leads from tour operators, meeting planners, travel agencies, sports commissions, tournament organizers, or any group wishing to visit Prescott for one or more nights. · Responds to leads generated for numerous internal and external sources, similar originations, and hospitality stakeholders referred to the Tourism Office. · Assist with developing plans focusing on sales to groups during mid-week and "shoulder season" (before and after peak summer season). · Contributes to annual sales and marketing plan, goals, strategies, and tactics. · Assists tourism and economic management with adjusting sales strategy models based on current economic/business conditions. · Evaluates sales opportunities, consults with marketing team and external agencies on strategy, tactics, and return on investments (ROI). · Ongoing communication with local tourism stakeholders, property owners, site selectors and brokers. · Acts as a liaison between meeting planners, group tour operators, travel agencies, sports commissions, tournament organizers, or any group wishing to visit Prescott for one or more nights. · Coordinates and assists properties with site tours for potential group business selection. · Assists in facilitating region-wide calendar coordination and collaborates with neighboring communities regarding dates and best available dates for events, groups, tournaments, and business meetings. · Manages events and sports tournament calendar coordination and group room blocks. · Manage CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and lead generation to hospitality stakeholders, as well as assistance in Sales Force for Economic Development lead generation. · Works within and maintains CRM software platform, providing monthly reporting analysis and industry reporting on lead generation as well as follow-up activities to Tourism and Economic Initiatives Management and stakeholder groups. · Works closely with marketing team for sales materials, destination profile sheets, itineraries (focusing on group and/or multi-night stays), consumer newsletters, website content, and sales media efforts pertaining to any sales efforts. · Coordinates and manages welcome/stay material and maintains a presence for group business, business meetings, seminars, and conferences. · Assists with Familiarization (FAM) Tours. · Remain current with industry best practices and trends through publications and conference attendance. · Assists with managing budget while performing other duties as assigned. · Responsible for travel reports, purchase orders, and purchasing card reconciliation. · Serves on committees and continues to enhance education whose objective is to promote the destination as an attractive place for group business. · Works alongside and as a team with others at the City regarding tourism and economic development, participate in developing support systems encouraging cross-functional cooperation. · Assists with Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC) duties and tasks. · Other duties as assigned Employee Core Beliefs City of Prescott employees should seek to uphold the City's core beliefs throughout their day-to-day business and with every customer they come in contact with, both internal and external.
