1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION / OWNER INTENTHennepin County is building a new, modern Public Safety Services headquarters that will be located in the grounds of the Hennepin County Adult Correctional Facility in Plymouth, adjacent to the existing Emergency Communications Facility and the ACF Women's Facility. The 100,000 square foot building will increase reliability; improve operational efficiencies; and centralize. The size of the garage is also unique in that it has large stall sizes and circulation factors to accommodate the diversity and varying size of fleet.This is a Minnesota B3 project and is being designed as a 50-year building. As such, the project incorporates a full spectrum of sustainability goals, including stormwater, grey water reuse, geothermal, electrical infrastructure for solar array, recycling construction debris, and bio-diverse landscaping.The facility will include 100,000 sf of space in two connected volumes, consisting of 75,000 sf garage, storage and 25,000 sf support office space: conference rooms, with facility support spaces. The building and site include surface parking lots and access road work.The building site requires demolition of one existing vacant work release building that is dirrectly connected to a fully operational Women's Work Release building, subsequent soil cut and fill including stormwater work. The work includes phasing to ensure campus access and operations.
