It is the intent of the State of California, Resources Agency, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to award a service contract for the logistical support of the operation and maintenance of CAL FIRE's fleet of firefighting aircraft. The selected Proposer will provide necessary personnel to support the operation and maintenance of CAL FIRE's aircraft under the general direction of CAL FIRE Officers. CAL FIRE¿s staff within its Aviation Management Unit (AMU) shall administer and manage the contract and provide direction and oversight to the selected Proposer providing logistical support services for the maintenance and operation of the aircraft and the aviation assets of CAL FIRE. The selected Proposer shall act as an agent of the State and be expected to maintain the highest standards, as established by CAL FIRE¿s Mission Statement, which reads as follows: "The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection protects the people of California from fires, responds to emergencies, and protects and enhances forest, range, and watershed values providing social, economic, and environmental benefits to rural and urban citizens."
