The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a full-time Superintendent of Water Utility to become an essential member of the public works team. The purpose of this position is to manage the water distribution system, water supply wells & reservoirs, water quality programs, and oversee utility personnel to include evaluating work performance, providing training, hiring and discipline practices, administering work schedules and directing the day to day activities. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing and monitoring the annual utility budget, submittal of various reports, and ensuring compliance of standards and regulations. The work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Engineering & Public Works. Annual wage for this exempt position ranges between $73,494.06 - $84,170.79, depending on qualifications. (Note:
The City of La Crosse is currently undergoing a pay & class study. Pending council approval, hiring range for this position may increase to $79,851.20 - $91,457.60 annually.)Requirements: Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, or water system related field, plus six years’ experience in water utility operations and 5 years supervisory experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid motor vehicle operator’s, Wisconsin waterworks operator licenses, and confined space certifications required. Familiar with PSC, DNR, OSHA and WI DSPS regulations applicable to Water Utility operations.
