The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, tobacco products, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics and products that emit radiation. The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines, devices, products, and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.The Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT) manages information technology (IT) and related services including technical oversight of system development processes and policies and related governance activities. OIMT ensures that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has a robust IT foundation that enables interoperability across the agency and allows the development of
enterprise wide systems necessary to meet the FDA's mission of promoting and protecting public health in an efficient, effective, productive and timely manner. OIMT strives to meet the business needs of its customers while consistently providing services that comply to Federal regulations and mandates and adhering to the Agency's IT standards and policies. OIMT is committed to provide the timely and effective delivery of the right IT solutions, support and services. Comprehensive management of FDA’s IT portfolio of IT investments is essential to ensure that OIMT leverages an enterprise-level approach that strengthens existing and future IT capabilities and addresses transparency, accountability and performance.Within OIMT, the Office of Enterprise Portfolio Management (OEPM) is responsible for identifying, prioritizing and successfully executing FDA’s portfolio of IT investments, conducting IT Portfolio Management, Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC), and OIMT’s Enterprise IT Service (EITS) Management using an enterprise-wide approach.
