Project Description:The City of Columbus is responsible for operating the sewer collection system and utilizes the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center (SMOC) to maintain the sewer system. This work is part of the City’s continuing program to improve its sewer collection system and all related infrastructure, provide efficient, reliable, cost-effective operations, and enhance personnel safety. The City is interested in entering into a contract with the consultant for overall engineering consultation and coordination for the City’s sewer collection system.
This contract will provide for the general Overall Engineering Consultant (OEC)
Services. Tasks shall include assisting the City in regulatory and funding issues, in negotiations with regulatory agencies concerned with permit requirements, preparation and maintenance of the Division’s Integrated Plan, Sanitary and Storm Sewer Design Manual updates, program planning, engineering coordination, design reviews, System Condition Risk Enhanced Assessment Model (SCREAM) program support services, and other general and additional services as directed by the City. This project assists the City in the sewer conceptualization and execution of a large capital improvements program for the sewer collection system.

Wastewater engineering:
The design of wastewater systems -sanitary sewer and grey water- is the design of a closed network of pipes, buffer chambers, pumping stations and sewage treatment plants. These are used to remove wastewater from human activity and treat the wastewater to minimize environmental impact.
