The 2015 Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) continues the annual set-aside for railway-highway crossing improvements under 23 USC 130(e). The funds are set-aside from the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) apportionment. The purpose of the above program is to reduce the number and severity of crashes at public railway-highway grade crossings. The Section 130 program in accordance with 23 USC 130(d), requires each state to schedule and implement projects for separation, relocation, protective devices and hazard elimination at all public crossings including roadways, bike trails and pedestrian paths. A Railway-Highway crossing is a junction where a roadway or bike trail or pedestrian path crosses railroad track at the same level or grade. In Nevada, there are about 300 such crossings on public road. The crossings are in urban or rural areas statewide.Project Scope:Railway-Highway Safety Engineering Design Services projects may be in urban or rural areas statewide. The successful PROPOSER will be responsible for the design of a project from conceptual design to final design submittal as well as post design support.
