Asbestos may be present in the existing flooring mastic and is present in some pipe insulation, and the City has retained an asbestos abatement contractor to perform any needed pipe insulation abatement work. That abatement work is NOT included in the work under this contract, although the Contractor will be required to coordinate their work with the City’s abatement contractor. The existing flooring mastic will be encapsulated in-place as part of this contract, and no sampling, testing, removal or disposal of existing flooring mastic will be required. The work for this project will consist primarily of, but not limited to, the following: selective demolition; miscellaneous rough carpentry; architectural woodwork; firestopping and joint sealants; hollow metal doors and frames; wood doors; door hardware; glazing; window film; metal wall framing; gypsum board; extruded aluminum partition gap closures; resilient flooring and base; acoustical panel ceilings and grid; tile carpeting; wall and door protection; roller window shades; plumbing; mechanical; electrical; and data/communication work.
