Stormwater Pump Station D facility conveys storm water via a 66” -diameter RCP line to a point of discharge within the San Diego River vicinity. Proposed Pump Station D Project is to increase its capacity from approximately135,000 gpm to 270,000 gpm to mitigate flooding upstream of the station, add a new emergency generator and upgrade all associated mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, and structures. The current scope of work for this project is to upgrade and increase service capacity at Pump Station D by installing the following improvements: Upgrade all 10 pumps; two (2) – 80hp motors and pumps to replace two (2) existing 60hp pumps, which will upgrade service capacity to the pump station; upgrade pump starters to accommodate new pumps; upgrade pump capacity from 130,000gpm to 270,000gpm; upgrade electrical equipment to the existing transformer to allow for the addition of a new 18hp low flow pump; upgrade structural components to discharging pipes and supports; the metal screen and support members at the base of the wet well need repair or replacement due to corrosion; update existing wet well to be in compliance with a standard design for an improved hydraulic performance; existing PLC controls needs to be replaced to be in compliance with the current City of San Diego PLC standard protocol, including new Motor Control Center (MCC) to handle the new higher horsepower motors. Other Details There was a Feasibility Study produced by PSOMAS for the City of San Diego in August 2019. This feasibility study, included with the RFP as Appendix 1, outlines the scope and cost for a complete rehabilitation of the City Storm Drain Pump Station D that serves the area of Old Town. The study identifies the following scope of work which shall be designed and constructed per this project: • Replacement of all ten (10) pumps (4160V) • Upgrade Pump Capacity • Low Flow Diversion System • Replace Top Slab (Structural Option 2) • Construct Miscellaneous Structural Improvements • New 4160 V Service and Electrical Upgrades • Existing PLC & MCC Replacement • Diesel Generator • Wet Well Modifications and Physical Model • Wet Well Repair (Corrosion) In addition to the improvements above, a hydraulic analysis and conditional assessment of the outfall pipeline will be completed as required to determine the capacity of the outfall pipeline. All site work during construction will require temporary bypassing of the pump station. Notes Special Notices Local Programs & Policies Place eBid
