Steese Expressway MP 2-5 ResurfacingProject Number NFHWY00698 The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments on the proposed Steese Expressway MP 2-5 Resurfacing project. DOT&PF plans to resurface the Steese Expressway from the Farmer’s Loop intersection to Chena Hot Springs Road, as well as portions of Birch Hill Road and Old Steese Highway frontage roads where directly adjacent and structurally connected to the Steese Expressway near MP 3.5. Resurfacing includes embankment and pavement leveling to improve the driving surface, drainage improvements, signs and guardrail replacements, utilities, vegetation clearing, and bridge rehabilitation work to the Chena Hot Springs Undercrossing (Bridge #1342). We are currently working on conceptual designs, engineering, and environmental studies. Construction is currently planned for summer 2024. DOT&PF requests information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including
historic properties and archaeological sites.
