$13.96 to $19.54 DOE/Q

New and existing employees start at beginning level of pay range.

Qualifications:
Education and/or experience equivalent to High School Diploma and two (2) years full time groundskeeping, landscaping or related work. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License. Must obtain Certified Applicators license for the Department of Agriculture within 6 months of hire.

 

Tasks:
Groundskeepers, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or foreman, perform routine golf course setup and maintenance including, tee and green mowing, cup cutting, bunker maintenance, surround mowing fairway mowing, and other duties involved in preparing the golf course for play. Must be able to learn and operate a variety of small and
large equipment. Must be able to perform semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work.

 

Performs or assists in scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repair of irrigation systems such as water line breaks and broken irrigation heads; performs, and monitors schedules for mowing, aerifying, top dressing, turf seeding, fertilizing and the application of pre-emergent, post emergent, herbicide, and insecticide.

 

Assists with plumbing projects including winterizing and recharging drinking fountains and drip systems. May be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of the golf facility and related duties as required.

 

Knowledge's, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

 

Knowledge of: 

 

        
Knowledge of methods and materials used in golf maintenance.

        
Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools, mowers, string trimmers and equipment and operate trucks and light motorized equipment.

        
Knowledge of irrigation watering. Irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance

        
Rain Master Oasis Irrigation System or equivalent knowledge

 

Skill in: 

        
Skill in following oral and written instructions.

        
Skill in installing, maintaining, and repairing Rain Master Oasis Irrigation System or equivalent

        
Skill in maintaining fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment, evaluating and reporting equipment problems.

        
Skill in project teamwork such as green construction, laying sod, seeding fairways, grading and preparing soil, installing forms, repairing and replacing irrigation systems.

        
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, City residents and elected officials.

 

Physical and Visual Ability:
sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely operate required office equipment and city vehicle as needed. Capable of working in adverse weather conditions and around chemicals and pesticides used in groundskeeping operations.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds of equipment and/or materials needed to complete job.

 

Hearing and Speaking Ability:
sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the radio and telephone
