Solicitation Description: The Texas General Land Office (“GLO”) seeks a highly skilled contractor to enlarge and stabilize the tidal exchange channel into the Bahia Grande in Cameron County, Texas (the “Project”). The selected Contractor shall hydraulically dredge a channel approximately 3,300 feet long and place the dredge material into a designated disposal area. Contractor shall also construct a scour protection structure around the Highway 48 bridge. The project will restore and conserve the Bahia Grande wetland complex in the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. The project will enlarge the existing pilot channel that was previously constructed in partnership with the GLO, Cameron County and the Port of Brownsville. The project will increase tidal flow into Bahia Grande, restoring the system’s natural tidal exchange and creating habitat for a variety of fish, shellfish, and migratory fowl. This project will restore and protect state owned submerged lands. The GLO will consider proposals from business entities that demonstrate the ability to complete the Project within the guidelines of this Solicitation and any applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
