our community.THE ROLE Reporting directly to the City Administrator, the Finance Director assists in the development and implementation of City goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and purchasing in compliance with local ordinance, state and federal law, and City policies and procedures. The Finance Director/Treasurer manages the day-to-day operation of the Finance Division of the Administration Department and supports in the achievement of strategic goals through complex statistical analysis of financial results and forecasting future results using data-driven models.Manages all treasury functions of the City to include but not limited to collection of revenue, investment of funds, cash management, and supervising the processing of payables, receivables, general ledger, and capital planning.Provides highly responsible, complex professional accounting services; interprets and applies accounting standards and determines applicability to department operations.Monitors revenues and expenditures to ensure sound fiscal control; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.Advises and participates in the design and implementation of automated financial information systems and updates; continuously evaluates potential system improvements; ensures changes in laws and regulations are addressed in system updates and trains users on system changes.Leads the annual budget process and collaborates with department heads to meet deadlines and make recommendations; prepares variance analyses for management review.Supervises compliance with all accounting and financial requirements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, federal, state, and local rules and regulations.Manages the month/quarter/year end close process to include but not limited to preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis for general ledger accounts; prepares monthly statements and visual reports that summarize data, information, and trends to support decision making.QUALIFICATIONS What does it take to succeed in this role? We’re looking for a motivated individual with superior analytical skills and the ability to navigate organizations to build relationships and garter support. You should also have: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Public AdministrationFive (5) or more years of relevant experience, public sector finance experience preferredLicensed CPA or CPFO certification preferred WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFERThe City of Port Washington offers an excellent benefits package, including inclusion in the state WRS pension plan, and ample opportunities for professional development.
