The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is seeking to develop a new website. The purpose of this procurement is to improve the agency’s website, focusing on three key areas: (1) Mobile responsiveness that allows the website to be easily usable and scalable for mobile phone, desktop, and other device; (2) User-centered design that is intuitive, streamlined, and simple to navigate; and (3) Accessible design and development that is compliant with ADA and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. The successful vendor should have experience working with transit agency website and applications, and a history of delivering website backends with user-friendly interfaces that require minimal knowledge of coding languages to maintain. This effort covers the full range of website components, including design, accessibility, content management strategies, back‐end architecture, integration of live data sources and compatibility with servers/hardware. All solutions are intended for use on
mobile devices such as phones and tablets, desktop/laptop computers and assistive web tools for people with disabilities.BackgroundIn 2021, voters in Lucas County and Rossford approved enhanced funding for public transit. So that local residents, businesses and visitors can understand their transit options, a refreshed website is critical. It is a central element of TARTA’s effort to improve transit literacy across the community.A transit system is bursting with information. Every destination, every bus stop, every route and every pickup time is a piece of information. Multiply that by thousands of individual locations – then set it all to a backdrop of weather, events, traffic, construction and other constantly changing conditions.Through all of these variables, TARTA must thread a positive customer experience. An effective website allows TARTA to equip customers with as much information as possible. At every step, information needs to be accurate and accessible. Moreover, to help customers navigate the torrent of numbers and places and updates, information needs to be clean, organized and engaging.Fortunately, transit information lends itself to a robust structure. With that in mind, we envision a finished product that is crafted specifically for a transit service. In this description, we outline key expectations and features of the proposed new website.TimelineRelease Project Date:March 29, 2024Pre-Bid Meeting (Non-Mandatory):April 3, 2024, 12:00pm Microsoft Teams meeting Join on your computer, mobile app or room device
