Youth Services LibrarianFond du Lac Public LibraryCity of Fond du Lac, WIThe Fond du Lac Public Library is seeking a creative and dynamic Youth Services Librarian.The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and teens, thrives on constant change and continuous improvement, embraces new technologies, and appreciates fun-loving co-workers.Under the general supervision of the Youth Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for creating an engaging environment in the library and in the community.  This position will participate in long-range planning for youth service areas and will offer materials, experiences and displays that serve the diverse cultural, social and intellectual needs of the Fond du Lac community. The Youth Services Librarian will be expected to engage with and program for all youth, from birth through age 19, as well as their caregivers and other special populations, including but not limited to educators, childcare providers, youth and adults with
cognitive or developmental disabilities, English language learners, etc.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop successful and well-attended programming for children, teens, and familiesAnswer reference questions, assist customers with technology, and provide readers’ advisory guidanceRepresent the library at outreach events (e.g. Farmers Market, 4K Nights, Parent Teacher Cafes, etc.) and lead school visits and toursCoordinate activities with library staff and community members to create a youth-friendly, inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment throughout the library and community, celebrating the diversity of youth and their families in our communityThe Fond du Lac Public Library is a vibrant, customer-focused library, circulating over 600,000 items annually with a collection of 200,000+ items spread over two locations.  In addition to traditional library materials, the library circulates teacher kits, computer projectors, guitar effect pedals, cake pans, and outdoor games.The Library’s makerspace, the Idea Studio, offers a test kitchen, recording studio, woodworking shop, 3D printers, sewing machines and various other equipment for public use. The City of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin is a picturesque and thriving community of over 43,000 residents located at the southern tip of one of the country’s largest inland lakes. Known for its world-class fishing, windsurfing, snowmobiling, hiking/biking trails and abundant wildlife, the Lake Winnebago area is a four-season outdoor playground.
