The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has launched a Request for Information (RFI) to engage with local communities across New York State to consider prospective sites for large-scale renewable energy project development. As part of the 2020-2021 enacted state budget, New York State announced the passage of the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth and Community Benefit Act. Under this act, NYSERDA is implementing a Clean Energy Resources Development and Incentives “Build-Ready” Program. The Build-Ready Program will advance large-scale renewable energy projects by identifying sites that are consistent with the State’s permitting standards, can be made build-ready for private renewable energy developers, and that provide economic or societal benefits to host communities and property owners. The Program will prioritize previously developed sites, existing or abandoned commercial sites, including brownfields, landfills, former commercial or industrial sites dormant electric generating sites, and otherwise underutilized sites. The Program will also work to identify greenfield projects that provide co-benefits in some form, that have community support but are not under active consideration by private developers.Under this RFI, The Program is proactively seeking nominations from elected officials, local community members, private companies, or other interested parties for potential sites for consideration as a Build-Ready
