Opportunity for Public Comment on 2022-2026 State Plan Goals & ObjectivesEvery five years, the Alaska Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education (Council) is required by the United States Administration on Developmental Disabilities to create a state plan of goals and objectives for its work as the Developmental Disabilities Council for Alaska. The Council must decide what it plans to get done during the next five years. Before writing the plan, the Council held virtual community forums to find out what participants think is important for people with disabilities and their families. The Council also sent a web survey to thousands of Alaskans asking similar questions. Once the information was collected, the Council met in May and September 2020 to review the information and to decide what priorities, goals, and objectives the Council should work on during 2022 through 2026. Based on the work of the Governor’s Council members, the draft 2022-2026 State Plan has been

developed and is now available for public comment. The plan describes the goals and objectives that the Council will work on during the years 2022-2026. You may request a copy by calling (907) 269-8990 or toll-free in Alaska at (888) 269-8990. 
The draft State Plan will be available for public comment until December 5th, 2020 at 5:00 pm. This is the 45-day period for public notice that is required by the Developmental Disabilities Act. You may provide public comment using the options below:
