Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 16 - HOUSTON In Support of the Alexandria VA Medical Center REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 36C25622Q0322 BACKGROUND: Background: The Alexandria VA Medical Center (AVAMC) is currently requesting the purchase and installation of furnishings for Mail Room renovations, including modular millwork, mobile mailroom sorters and consoles, and storage cabinets. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and supervision necessary. Project Scope: The following components are needed for the areas specified above. General Requirements a. HPL top options and must be cleanable with
hospital grade germicides and bleach solutions without harm to finishes. b. Locks shall be standard. Lock mechanisms must be flush with the front of the cabinet and cannot protrude past the face of the cabinet. All cabinets keyed with one lock number or any combination of key numbers at no extra cost, per casework. c. Worksurfaces shall be available in a standard shapes and sizes. d. All warranty items shall include, labor, traveling, parts and shipping of items. e. Warranty: Limited lifetime of materials and workmanship except for 12 years on power components, glides, and panel fabrics with 5 years on lighting ballasts and lighting power supplies. f. Basis of design is Hamilton Casework Solutions MR1 Mailroom Shelving: Shelving and Sorting Tables a. Adjustable height sorting tables ranging from 29 - 36 high with varying depths of 24 36 and varying widths of 30 - 60 . b. Varying heights for sorters will range from 24 48 high and 12-15 deep. c. Adjustable metal dividers with thumb cuts and label flanges for varying mailbox sizes. d. Available as a full height cabinet option as a stand- alone unit. e. Closed storage units should have options for both swinging door, tambour door, and sliding door options. f. Lock mechanisms must be flush with the front of the cabinet and cannot protrude past the face of the cabinet. g. Available with locking heavy-duty wheels for mobility. h. 18-gauge steel construction minimum with welded metal construction with HPL. i. 500 lb. weight capacity. j. Optional accessories of tack boards, task lights, and totes SC1, Storage Cabinet, Metal a. Storage cabinet must be available in widths between 30 42 and a depth between 18 20 . b. Smooth textured steel paint options to match most major metal furniture manufacturers. c. Door pull options that meet ADA Accessibility guidelines. d. Sliding door, double door swing and/or open shelving. e. Adjustable interior shelves with 1 adjustability. f. Leveling glides that provide 1 increments. REQUESTED RESPONSES: The intent of this Request for Information is to establish sources to define the procurement strategy (e.g set-aside, sole source, unrestricted) for a solicitation that VA intends to post soon. Interested contractors are requested to respond in accordance with the following: Please respond to this RFI if you can provide the name products listed in section above. In the response please cite your business size status. If you have an existing GSA or VA, Federal Supply Schedule contract, please include the contract details in your response. DISTRIBUTORS: You must provide proof that you are an authorized distributor. VA does not accept grey market items. Please respond to this RFI if you can provide supplies that may be determined EQUIVALENT to the products listed in the table in the background section above. Please provide details on the proposed EQUIVALENT products such as Manufacturer Name, Part Number, and Description. If you have an existing GSA or VA, Federal Supply Schedule contract, please include the contract details in your response. DISTRIBUTORS: You must provide proof that you are an authorized distributor. VA does not accept grey market items. Please note that VA is particularly interested in determining the availability of Small Business Manufacturers. If your company is a small business manufacturer of potentially equivalent items, please respond to this RFI. Vendors are requested to submit estimated market research pricing with their responses. The estimated pricing will be considered when determining the procurement strategy for the future solicitation. (e.g. if CO determines that capable small businesses cannot provide fair and reasonable pricing, then the solicitation will not be set-aside). Please note that if no responses to this notice are received, from either authorized distributors of the cited brand name nor from manufacturers marketing a potentially equivalent brand, then this action will be sole sourced to the manufacturer cited in the Background section above.
