6515--Intent to Sole Source SCI Raz Design Chairs

This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 5.101(a)(2) requiring the dissemination of information on proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract pursuant to 10 U.S.C 2304 (C)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) and 6.301-1(c), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, and brand-name descriptions. The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center located at VA Boston Healthcare System, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA has a requirement for ten (10) RAZ shower commode chairs. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. this notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This is a written notice to inform the public of the Governments

The objective of this task order is to provide high quality and safe equipment to promote out of bed toileting, hygiene, and bathing needs of inpatient veterans with spinal cord injury/disorder (SCI/D). Individuals with SCI/D have specific seating needs that cannot be accomplished with other commodes. They also require interventions related to management of bowel and bladder needs that are unique to this population. To maximize veterans safety, while maintaining their overall health and maximizing independence, the unit requires 10 additional RAZ shower commode chairs to be used both over the toilet and wheeled safely into the shower. The seat surface is firm but padded and promotes skin integrity for individuals with SCI/D with lack of sensation. The RAZ shower commode chair seat surfaces are available in a variety of orientations to promote increased independence. Due to the unique seat surface cut outs, individuals can access their own rear peri areas to complete bowel and hygiene needs independently. These seat surfaces are interchangeable with the other RAZ chairs as well to allow for customization within the unit. The RAZ AT shower chairs can tilt to maintain pressure relief and positioning for veterans with higher level spinal cord injuries and the RAZ SP allow for veterans to self-propel into the bathroom and/or shower.
