The UNC School of Medicine (SOM) new Medical Education
Building (MEB) will replace Berryhill Hall which was built
in 1970 and is past its prime not only in age but also in
function. The new facility will be used by the SOM for
instruction purposes and consist of Microbiology, Anatomy
and Physiology labs, classrooms and auditoriums.
The MEB six story facility is currently planned to be built
in two phases. Phase 1 construction (58,500 gsf) will
contain and provide most of the building MEP systems
including the main mechanical and electrical rooms. Phase 2
construction (86,500 gsf) will be served from existing Phase
1 MEP systems.
The building will be connected to the campus chilled water
