Mobile Liquid Hydrogen Dewar

The Glenn Research Center’s Plum Brook Station may have an upcoming requirement for a mobile liquid hydrogen dewar. Upcoming testing at the In-Space Propulsion (ISP) Test Facility may require additional hydrogen storage for a temporary period. As a result, the project is requesting information regarding availability and pricing of a mobile dewar rental. The dewar requirements are stated below:Minimum storage capacity of 5,000 gallons of liquid hydrogenIdeally capable of 50 PSIG pressurizationCapable of remote operation (i.e. remotely operated fill/drain, vent, pressure building, valves) and remote instrument readouts (pressure and liquid levels)Availability from May 2020 through February 2021 (this schedule is subject to change)Maintained to a good degree of cleanliness (i.e. not contaminated with other propellants or particulates, purge maintained)Components/dewar have been inspected and verified to be in reliable and good working order (i.e. no maintenance required)Under current DOT

certification (please provide DOT certification expiration date)The prospective Contractor will be expected to:Provide a flexible hose that connects to the fill/drain port. The hose must be inspected and verified to be in good working orderProvide a flexible hose that connects to the facility’s ventilation system. The hose must be inspected and verified to be in good working orderAllow ISP personnel to fill, transfer, operate, etc.Interested vendors should compile a basic capability statement describing availability and pricing of the mobile liquid hydrogen dewar. If this dewar fails to meet any of the requirements stated above, this should be identified in the capability statement.
