NOTICE OF UTILITY FILING PETITIONThe REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on November 10, 2022, ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, A Division of SEMCO Energy, Inc. (ENSTAR), filed a petition seeking authorization for the creation of a regulatory asset allowing ENSTAR to accumulate and defer the costs associated with studying and securing long term gas supplies for the Alaska Railbelt. ENSTAR seeks to accumulate and defer these extraordinary costs because they are (1) unusual and non-recurring and (2) will benefit the customers and residents of the Cook Inlet area as current gas supply agreements expire. It is ENSTAR’S intent to seek recovery of the amount not allocated to future capital projects, or reimbursed by third parties, in a future rate proceeding.
