Such services will include, but are not limited to: (1) reviewing and advising on appropriate insurance coverage; (2) placement and management of insurance plans and service, including implementation and migration of plans as needed; (3) provide benefits support services; (4) develop and produce materials for employee reference of benefit offerings; (5) strategize and collaborate with benefit program administrator(s) and assist with ongoing wellness program; (6) advise benefit program administrator(s) on current and future federal, state and local mandated regulations. The agency reserves the
right to extend the submission deadline in the event it would be in the best interest of SJCOG. BackgroundOverview of Current Employee Health Benefits Program: SJCOG currently provides the following benefits to all full-time employees: Medical (HMO and PPO plan choices) Vision Plan (Self-funded) Dental PPO (Beam) Life (Unum) Dependent Life (Unum) Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Long-Term Disability (LTD) Flexible Spending Account (FSA) (Navia Benefit Solutions) COBRA Administration (Navia Benefit Solutions) Currently there are 31 full-time employees. SJCOG employees have the choice to “opt-out” of employer provided medical coverage with proof of other coverage. Employees also have the choice to opt out of employer provided dental and vision coverage. Employees pay premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision at various levels based on their selection of coverage:Employee only-SJCOG covers 100% of the premiums on Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and Long-Term Disability (LTD)Employee plus spouseEmployee familyEmployees that are part of the cafeteria plan will receive an allotted amount each payroll to use towards premiums costs. SJCOG does not cover those costs for the cafeteria plan employees. The cafeteria allocation is used to cover these costs. For benefits such as the voluntary life plan, employees pay 100% of this costs. SJCOG’s annual employee open enrollment period is typically held the second and third week in November. One of the renewal plans is effective December 1st and the other renewal plans are effective January 1st of each calendar year.
