This Request for Information (RFI) is intended to ascertain whether the commodity or service specified below is currently available from multiple providers.  This is not a request for pricing or a commitment to purchase.


The following commodity is thought to be the reasonable brand. This RFI will remain posted until the due date and time indicated.  Vendors should submit response electronically through BidSync.  Vendor should upload any supporting information in BidSync to assist in determining if product and service is comparable.

Justification for Reasonable Source/Brand Acquisition:
The Broward County Transit Division, Paratransit Section, is requesting approval of a sole brand procurement for, Radio Engineering Industry ( REI ) Digital Mobile Video Cameras with 4-Channel Wi-Fi Digital Video Recorder (DVR) for 42 (2 Camera Units) vehicle Dodge Caravan minivan and 168 (4 camera units) Ford Transit Paratransit’s fleet. Parts and labor included. The TOPS Program fleet currently consist of 296 vehicles. 254 of those vehicles have REI digital camera systems installed in them. Paratransit recently purchased new vehicles for the TOPS Program. The newly purchased vehicles, must have digital mobile video cameras installed in them prior to being placed into service under TOPS program. Operational Compatibility - replacement parts from alternate suppliers are not interchangeable with original part and causes equipment incompatibility. Maintaining compatibility will minimize the operational and administrative support training needed in using the equipment current staff has been using current software.

If offering an equivalent brand, a Vendor should submit with their response, photographs, drawings, current manufacturer's catalogues, or product literature on items offered. If not provided with you response, this information must be submitted within three calendar days when requested by Broward County.  Failure on the part of the vendor to submit the requested literature and/or catalogues may result in their response being declared non-responsive.  Broward County will be the sole determinate of what is comparable.


Prospective Vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply the commodities or contractual services described.  All Vendors' responses will be evaluated by the Using Agency, which will be the sole determinate in establishing the approved equal status of the commodity or service offered by the Vendor. If it is determined in writing by the agency, after reviewing any information received from prospective Vendors, that the commodities or contractual services are available as a sole brand, a Request for Bid will be issued for the sole brand for processing and approval by the appropriate award authority.


Vendor’s solicitation response must be submitted electronically through BidSync. It is the Vendor’s sole responsibility to assure its response is submitted and received through BidSync by the date and time specified in the solicitation. The County will not consider solicitation responses received by other means.
