Background The SHIP Improving Safety and Access for Active Transportation and Mobility (Active Transportation) activity focuses on increasing routine physical activity through daily movement such as walking, biking, or using transit for a portion or all trips to everyday destinations within neighborhoods, municipal, county, or multi-county
level. MDH SHIP program guidance requires local public health SHIP staff work with local community partners to address community policy, systems and practices that impact safety and access to active transportation in the social and built environment. The work involves continually engaging community partners to understand the barriers to safe and accessible active transportation and mobility, and with partners, work on activities such as local planning, evaluation, education, encouragement, and engineering to create safe and accessible street networks for walking, biking, and transit. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Office of Statewide Health Improvement Initiatives (OSHII) administers a technical assistance (TA) and training system for SHIP to build state and local capacity to successfully implement best practices in health improvement, community engagement and health equity strategies through policy, systems and environmental (PSE) changes. The active transportation TA is designed to support local public health SHIP staff and increase their knowledge of active transportation, planning, best practices and provide an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning. Proposed Project The primary focus of this technical assistance (TA) project is the planning and facilitation of 8-10 technical assistance calls to support the SHIP program. The main audience for the calls is local public health SHIP staff and community partners. The calls will provide an opportunity for local public health SHIP staff from around Minnesota to build capacity to implement the SHIP Active Transportation activity and support the local community in improving safe and equitable access for a portion or all trips to everyday destinations along street networks.Event Start Date03/29/2024 09:10 AM CDT Event End Date04/30/2024 04:30 PM CDT Event Round1 Event Version1 Event FormatSell Event TypeRFx Edits to Submitted BidsYes Payment Terms View Bid Package
