Comprehensive Official Plan AND Provision of Planning Services FOR THE Township of E d wardsburgh OVERVIEW
The objective is to undertake a complete review of the
Township’s Official Plan. Growth pressures resulting from the urban sprawl of Ottawa, coupled with changes to land use
planning policies including the 2014 Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) and the implementation of a County Wide Official Plan, must be addressed within an updated Official Plan. Council firmly believes that the

participation of the public in the review process is essential for success.
The current Official Plan has passed its 5-year lifespan and is need of a complete review, allowing for it to remain in place for 10 years upon approval. In addition, a complete review will ensure that the 2018 Official Plan will reflect a comprehensive, unified, overall outlook for the future development of the municipality.
Council is also seeking proposals for planning consulting services on an ongoing basis. Currently, planning-related inquiries are directed to the Community Development Coordinator or the CAO/Clerk for the municipality, both full-time positions. Council wishes to appoint a ‘planner of record’ to assist staff with planning matters by providing professional advice upon request and to draft complex documents such as official plan amendments, zoning by-laws, major site plan agreements and subdivision agreements.
It has also been identified that a review of the Township’s
Comprehensive Zoning By-law will also be necessary in 2019
following adoption of a revamped Official Plan. A
determination of the specifics of the Zoning By-law project will be made at or near the completion of this project in consultation with the consultant
