This special use provides high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of government-owned recreation facilities located on the Glacier and Seward Ranger Districts. The recreation sites offered in this business opportunity are located on the east side of the Kenai Peninsula. All Forest Service fee campgrounds on the Eastern Kenai Peninsula are included in this permit.The primary use season is mid-May to mid- September with shoulder season use occurring as weather allows. The Eastern Kenai Peninsula area is known for its recreational opportunities including hundreds of miles of hiking trails,
numerous public use cabins, excellent fishing opportunities, and a variety of campgrounds. The site visit will allow all interested parties to tour concession facilities and observe services while in operation. Due to the large expanse of land and distance between concession sites in the prospectus, it will only be possible to visit a few selected sites during this tour. Applicants are strongly encouraged to do a self-guided tour of the locations listed in the prospectus prior to submitting an application.
