Under general
supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor, the ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills to evaluate and control an activated sludge process, while demonstrating a strong commitment to plant safety, practices and standards. Essential Duties : Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring wastewater treatment plant processes and maintaining proper plant balance to include adjusting chemical feed rates, pumps and other plant equipment Complete multiple plant inspections, collect samples, and troubleshoot process and equipment Monitor pump operation, record pump readings and program timers Assist with the reclaimed water delivery system Assist laboratory technician and perform laboratory analysis Maintain plant appearance by cleaning and providing maintenance assistance Perform assigned duties for odor control, hygienic, and safety purposes Utilize various types of machinery and equipment including forklift, backhoe, lab instruments and general office equipment Monitor supervisory control, and data acquisition (SCADA) Utilize work orders to report problems related to operational equipment Perform scheduled and unscheduled work orders as assigned Maintain current operations records and files Provide on-call response on a rotating schedule, and perform related tasks as required to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and experience equivalent to two (2) years in operations and/or maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements: Must possess an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification or be able to obtain within one (1) year of hire. Must obtain Grade II within 18 months of obtaining Grade I and must obtain Grade III within 18 months of obtaining Grade II.
