Totem Middle School Seismic Retrofit Marysville School District Marysville, WA DATE 4/10/2024 @ 3:00 PM ​ Project Description: The Scope of Work for this Project consists of seismic upgrades to an existing single-story middle school building. Modifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Architectural/Structural: a. Remove soffit and roofing at the connection of the breezeway roof and adjacent building to provide access for creation of seismic joint. b. Remove existing roofing and roof deck for various seismic upgrades including added straps, roof to masonry wall connections, ledger connection to wall bracing and attachment of roof sheathing to shear walls below. c. Remove existing roofing and diagonal sheathing over library. Install plywood sheathing roof diaphragm. d. Remove and replace sections of finish flooring and slab-on-grade to allow for installation of pilings. e. Remove and replace sections of gypsum board for installation of hold downs. f. Remove and replace gypsum
board, rubber base, and wall mounted items to allow installation of plywood shear panels or to add blocking to the existing shear walls. g. Remove and replace the existing finished ceiling to allow installation of a new collector beam. h. Remove existing exterior siding at the penthouse walls to facilitate installation of plywood wall sheathing. Install new weather barrier and fiber cement siding on penthouse walls. i. Remove existing and install new SBS-modified bituminous roofing system throughout. 2. Plumbing and Mechanical: a. Demolish abandoned lab exhaust fans and their associated ductwork. b. Demolish abandoned steam piping serving the library air handling unit within the building. c. Demolish and replace existing mechanical ductwork and plumbing piping to accommodate structural upgrades to the building. d. Demolish and replace existing roof drains and vents to accommodate roof replacement. e. Remove and reinstall existing roof exhaust fans and hoods to accommodate roof replacement. f. Remove and reinstall existing plumbing fixtures to accommodate structural upgrades to the building. g. Brace existing mechanical equipment to the structure, including VAV terminals, air handling units, water heaters, supply, and exhaust fans. h. Brace ductwork over 6 square feet in area located in the mechanical penthouse to structure. i. Provide flexible couplings to all piping where it enters the building from outside. 3. Electrical: a. Provide seismic bracing for all light fixtures in the building. b. Disconnect and reconnect mechanical equipment to accommodate structural upgrades to the building and roof replacement. c. Disconnect and reinstall fire alarm control panel to accommodate architectural work. d. Disconnect and reinstall smoke detectors to accommodate architectural work. e. Disconnect and reinstall wall switches, receptacles, data receptacles, and wire mold to accommodate structural upgrades to the building. f. Disconnect and reinstall light fixtures to accommodate architectural work. g. Disconnect and reinstall thermostat on the wall to accommodate architectural work. h. Remove and reinstall conduit on roof to accommodate roof replacement.
