positive impact for our community.THE ROLE Reporting directly to the City Administrator, the Recreation Director is responsible for the planning, development, and operation of comprehensive recreation programming to include aquatics, sports and leisure leagues, athletics, cultural programs, community events, multi-generational programs, and other recreation activities. The Recreation Director will collaborate and build strong partnerships with community organizations, recreation and sports leagues, school, and other mission-similar organizations. The individual in this role will supervise three full-time employees and a large contingent of seasonal employees.The Recreation Director will oversee process improvement, provide policy direction and oversight, and serve as a member of the City Leadership Team. In a management capacity, the individual in this role will assist in the development of the City’s operating and capital improvement budgets and oversee and implement special projects.QUALIFICATIONS What does it take to succeed in this role? We’re looking for a motivated individual with strong project management skills and the ability to navigate organizations to build relationships and garner support. You should also have: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Public Administration, or related fieldFive (5) or more years of experience in municipal parks and recreationCertified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hireCertified Pool Operator (CPO) and/or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hireValid Wisconsin driver’s licenseWHAT WE HAVE TO OFFERThe City of Port Washington offers an excellent benefits package, including inclusion in the state WRS pension plan and ample opportunities for professional development.
