Description:
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is pleased to announce the opportunity for a qualified contractor to demolish two residential structures. The buildings were involved in a structure fire and were damaged beyond reasonable repair. The main guest house, a 1300sq ft. two story three-bedroom structure, was 80% destroyed in the fire. The second structure was a small studio cabin approximately 300sqft was 40% destroyed. The retaining wall along the back section of the two buildings was a post and plank construction 100 feet in length. The retainer wall is 4 feet high on average and boards for 60% of the wood portion were damaged.  The damaged section of retainer wall will need to be removed /
replaced as part of the site cleanup under the direction of the geotechnical report and findings.  Demolition area will need to be cleaned of debris, waddles and weed-free straw mulch applied to finished work area for erosion prevention.

Thornewood structures are located at 895 La Honda Rd, Woodside CA 94026 in Thornewood Open Space Preserve.


Scope of Work: 
Removal of two (2) damaged structures Guest house 1300 sqft. 2 story 80% damage
Studio house 300 sqft. 1 story 40% damage
Retention wall 100 linear foot 4’ height removal (based on Geotech report)
Removal of debris from job site.
Concrete can be reduced to 6” nominal pieces to be used as fill for hill landform restoration
Installation of straw waddles
Install of silt fence for site erosion reduction
Power and water have been disconnected from structures.

February 20, 2021         Completion date for all work at project site, Project closeout
 
Award of Contract is anticipated to occur on December 1, 2020. On-site activities may commence as soon as all pre-construction submittal requirements have been met.
All work at the
project site must be completed no later than February 20, 2021.  
BID SUBMITTAL Bidders shall execute and submit the attached Bid Proposal form.  Each Bid Proposal must give the full business address of the Bidder and be signed by him/her.  Bid Proposals by corporations must identify the legal name of the corporation, be signed by an authorized officer of the corporation, and include a corporate resolution conferring such authorization.  Bid Proposals by partnerships must furnish the full name of all partners and must be signed by one of the partners.  After the signature, the Bid Proposal shall designate the position of the person signing.
 
 The following forms are to be executed and submitted by Bidders with Bid.
Bid Proposals must include the following:  
Attachment 1: Bid Proposal
Attachment 2: List of Subcontractors
Attachment 3: Noncollusion Affidavit
Attachment 4: Bid Bond or Cashier’s Check


All bids are due on or before noon on November 3rd, 2020, at the Office of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, 330 Distel Circle, Los Altos, CA 94022.  Bids will be publicly opened on November 4, 2020, at noon, at the District’s Office.
 
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS              Under California Business and Professions Code §7000 through § 7145, commonly known as the “Contractor’s License Law”, Contractor must possess an appropriate license that is current and valid at the commencement of and throughout the Term of the Agreement for the Work.  The License required for this Agreement is Class B, General Building Contractor or Class C21 demolition. All subcontractors must possess an appropriate license that is current and valid at the commencement of and throughout the Term of the Agreement.
 
BOND AND INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS The successful Bidder shall obtain and maintain in full force, workers compensation insurance (California Labor Code §§ 1860 & 1861) and commercial general liability and automobile insurance as further described in the Agreement.  Bond and Insurance requirements are further described in the Agreement.
