Emergency Medical Services Program Medical Director Services

1. The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) requests an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program Medical Director to provide technical medical expertise to CAL FIRE management concerning any potential certification and/or operational impacts resulting from employee EMS-related issues. The Medical Director shall meet the minimum qualifications required for Medical Directors, as set for by the California Health and Safety Code, Division 2.5 and the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 9, Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services.

2. The Medical Director shall monitor CAL FIRE EMS operational needs and provide recommendations for quality improvement(s), as directed. The Medical Director shall have an active role in the EMS training needs of CAL FIRE personnel and assist in the maintenance of the CAL FIRE Electronic Patient Care Report (CAL ePCR) system, as directed. The Medical Director shall also act as a liaison with federal EMS agencies, the State EMS Authority (EMSA), and the Local EMS Agency (LEMSA). All duties shall be performed as direct by the EMS Program Staff.

3. Contractor shall provide Technical Medical Expertise services for the CAL FIRE EMS Program. Contractor shall work with CAL FIRE Projective Representative/Contract Manager and Contractor agrees to solely represent CAL FIRE in all Communications. Contractor shall use State-issued email address and cellphone for all CAL FIRE communications.
