For any property that qualifies for designation, the selected firm will prepare a “Reason for Designation” statement explaining the cultural
heritage value of the property and a list of heritage attributes. The study will have a thorough public consultation component. The twenty-seven (27) properties were selected from the full list of over 200 non-designated heritage properties in Burlington using criteria developed by the City staff and the Heritage Burlington Advisory Committee (HBAC). The study of these twenty-seven (27) properties represents the City’s response to Provincial Bill 23 - The More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022. The successful Bidder (Consultant) will have experience completing multiple heritage evaluations simultaneously and will present a plan for completing the studies in two-three batches, with most studies (50% ) to be completed by Dec. 31, 2024, and the remainder completed by Q2 2025. Properties with the highest risk of demolition/redevelopment are to be prioritized for completion by end of 2024.
