The purpose of this task order extension is to support the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Enterprise Information Technology (IT) infrastructure through the provision of engineering support services. The contractor will provide engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting, help desk and other mission critical services to support TSA's entire information technology platform. TSA uses various IT services such as computer hardware, networking hardware, voice communications, applications software, and electronic messaging to conduct mission critical communications and data processing in support of TSA operations. TSA's information technology envelope includes TSA headquarters and all of the deployed locations that transportation security officers operate at during the performance of their responsibilities to protect the Nation's transportation network. Without these mission critical support services, TSA would lack the ability to maintain its full mission capability as it would not be able to communicate, command, and control via its IT infrastructure assets. These services are critical for TSA to conduct its protection and counter-terrorism mission on behalf of the Nation. The services to be acquired are commercial in nature. The extension will be for a total of six months. The amount of the increase in funding is greater than $13.5M dollars. The justification and approval for this action is attached in .pdf
