Rubber Products Division, Bldg. 493, at RRAD performs the remanufacture of road wheels for tracked combat vehicles. The road wheel preparation process line in Bldg. 493 currently consist of multiple workstations and process equipment that prepare tracked vehicle road wheels for new rubber installation. These stations include: loading conveyor from source pallet, stamping production information, sandblasting road wheel outer surface, primer application to road wheel rolling surface, primer drying station, spray adhesive application to road wheel rolling surface, adhesive drying application, and unloading and pallet stacking. The acceptable material (road wheel) is taken from the end of the legacy manual conveyor line and then manually placed on a pallet to be transported to other locations in the Rubber Products Division in Bldg. 493. Depending on the Road Wheel type it is transported to the proper Road Wheel Rubber Molding machine to continue the refurbishment process for
completion as a new remanufactured road wheel.Acquisition of a new Road Wheel Automated Adhesive System is required to provide Rubber Products Division with the latest state of the art capability by providing safe and efficient processes needed for road wheel remanufacturing to support RRAD workload requirement. The proposed Road Wheel Automated Adhesive System must be able to continuously process Road Wheels at a rate of 200 every 10 hours. During peak workload, RRAD may work 24/7, so the proposed system must be able to sustain a production capability of approximately 480 Road Wheels per day and capable of processing six (6) variations of roadwheels. The line will include monocart floor mounted conveyors, moving conveyors, robotic automation, abrasive cleaning, painting (chemical coating) capabilities to rolling surface of the wheels, and fume duct installation, etc. System will be controlled through HMI. The system is expected to be a complete turnkey system.Delivery will be FOB destination, Red River Army Depot, Texarkana, TX 75507-5000.
