(TWIS). The work will be contained within the station limits between the physical gores for the off- and on-ramps from and to I-68 Eastbound. All work will be completed with the TWIS closed during construction. The work will consist of the following infrastructure and equipment (hardware and software) improvements at the Finzel (I-68 EB) TWIS, as noted on the plans and in the Special Provisions: (a) Scale specific improvements: a. Replace truck over height detector with a Single Pole system. b. Replace the approach overhead lane use control signals. c. Replace the “Christmas tree” signal with a mast arm LED DMS. d. Upgrade the static scale computer system. e. Replace the WIM on the ramp approaches with dynamic automatic self-calibration using the static scale as the standard. f. Install a tire anomaly detection system. g. Replace static scale load cells. h. Replace or install induction loops necessary to track and direct vehicles within the facility and to control the open/closed sign when the facility queues. (b) Other site improvements: a. Perform pavement repairs and rehabilitation as noted on the plans and in the specifications as per MDOT SHA OMT’s provided pavement report. b. Replace portions of the scale house building floor. c. Replace two of the four inspection building garage doors.
