Sealed bids will be received for the purchase and removal of designated pine timber on tracts of land totaling approximately 41.2 acres located on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island SC. Bids will be opened publicly at 2:00 pm on September 15, 2021, and read at the office of the NAVFACSYSCOM MIDLANT-FEAD, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island. 62 Atsugi Street, Parris Island, SC, 29905. This is a per unit (ton) sale. Inspection of the timber offered for sale and removal is invited and strongly encouraged. Interested parties may arrange inspection by contacting Mr. John Holloway, Natural Resources Manager, at (843) 228-3066, or (c) (843) 812-6241. The work includes SALVAGE of all storm damaged pine timber (damaged standing, down, dead, dying, or leaning more than 30 degrees from vertical) AND operator select thinning any remaining timber to a 50 basal area where possible on approximately 21.9 acres. The work also includes the operator select thinning to 50 basal area of an additional approximately 19.3 acres relatively undamaged by the storm. Both tracts of land total approximately 41.2 acres as indicated on the tract maps that accompany this specification. The Purchaser (also referred to herein as the "Contractor") will be required to furnish all labor, materials and/or equipment necessary for the completion of the contract including loading, removal and subsequent ownership. Logging decks and primary skid trails will be placed in co-ordination with U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Technical Representatives.
